The Music That Floated Around in My Head
On Election Night

This essay addresses some of my musical medleys. They are pinging and ponging around in my head as the votes are being tabulated tonight. It is diverse and runs the gambit from Mussorgsky’s Pictures at an Exhibition to Queens’ Bohemian Rhapsody.

Freddie Mercury wrote Bohemian Rhapsody and most of the music and lyrics for Queen. The storyline for Bohemian Rhapsody was open-ended. Washington Irving did the same when he wrote The Legend of Sleepy Hollow. Both writers wanted their audiences to write their own endings to the story or the music.

America voted today for either Kamala Harris or Donald Trump. The poles are closing as I write this article. Around midnight, we will have, hopefully, a clearer idea who will be our next president. I’m confident that the Donald will lose again, but it isn’t due to a rigid election. It is because he is a loser in his real estate’s businesses and in selling a litany of things.

The only reason Trump won the 2016 presidential election was due to the Electoral College. Clinton had beaten Trump by 3 million votes.

This article looks at Trump musically. Across the pond in England, the Marsh Family edited Queens’ Bohemian Rhapsody. Their name was Bohemian Rhapsody.

Beyond the Marsh Family, Queen has a handful of other recordings that could be tweaked for Donald the Dumb, such as I Want To Break Free. It would address Trump’s sexism, racism, and xenophobia.

The following two songs are We Will Rock You and Another Other Bites the Dust. We Will Rock You will be simple. Just rename it We Have Rocked You.

My other favorite is We Are the Champions. Tell Kamala that I suggested that our nation could sing along together regardless of our race, sex, or ethnic or religious background. We could sing together to conclude the Inauguration ceremony on January 20, 2025.

This is a musical selection about Kamala Harris by the Marsh Family.

Finally, this is the Marsh Family tribute to JD Vance.
