Reflects on America
I have two woodland avatars, one in my backyard and one in my front yard. The word's etymology comes from Sanskrit: ava means down, and tar means coming down or crossing over. Essentially, an avatar is some divine entity that comes down to humans. Woodland avatars are divine beings that come down to humans to assist or protect them. Several days ago, I noticed that the avatar in my front yard had an icicle under its chin. It wanted to speak, but its mouth was frozen shut.
I couldn’t do anything other than wait until the weather warmed up. A few days ago, I took Ginger out for a walk, and the avatar was crying. I stopped to see the cause of my woodland avatar being emotionally distraught.
The avatar obviously was upset. After a few moments, my woodland avatar started to explain its contamination. It explained that it came to help me on my yellow brick road of life and to protect me. I appreciated its concern but didn’t grasp it being so upset. It talked about America and the recent election. My avatar couldn’t say much about Trump other than being despicable from its mindset.
I agreed and couldn’t grasp why so many people had voted for him in 2016 and recently. I couldn’t believe he got so many voters to accept him despite having seen all his lies and his attempts to be an autocrat starting in 2016. Trump denied all of his wrongdoing, and all too many Americans agreed with his denials.
My woodland avatar said, “Trump nominated people who couldn’t pass a background check like Matt Gaetz.” My avatar went on about not understanding why the Justice Department didn’t charge Gaetz with sex trafficking, having sex with a minor, etc. He summed up his thoughts about Gaetz with his disbelief. “To make matters worse, Trump wanted Gaetz to be the US Attorney General.”
My avatar went on and on about the obvious problem of putting someone in charge of the department overseeing criminal actions similar to what he did. However, Gaetz knew he wouldn’t be confirmed, so he withdrew his name.
The next issue troubling my avatar was Pete Hegseth. Again, Trump nominated Hegseth as the head of the Defense Department. He had been in the Army National Guard and was the former Fox Weekend co-host. My avatar said, “Neither of those qualifies Hegseth to be the head of the Defense Department. Then there is his drinking and sex life, which aren’t positive attributes either. If that isn’t enough, he is totally against the equality of women in the military, especially having women in combat situations. Then, there are reports of forcing a woman to have sex with him.”
My avatar mused that Gaetz and Hegseth’s disqualifiers are similar to Trump’s lifestyle, especially as they relate to women. Then he turned his attention to RFK, Jr., heading the Health and Human Services. He mused, “Trump nominated Kennedy, who is an anti-vax proponent, even for COVID. Vaccines cause autism. Kennedy is sure that herbicides cause transgender issues for children. He is also against fluoridation of our drinking water. I can’t believe that Trump wants him to lead HHS.”
Finally, my woodland avatar stopped crying and said, “Avatars are to assist humans in their journey down the yellow brick road. However, Trump is nominating people like himself. Trump assumes that Republican Senators will vote for all his nominees. I don’t get why they can’t be honest and not kowtow to the president-elect.” The last thing that my woodland avatar said was, “We can talk about all the other nominees in a few days. Most of them shouldn’t be approved by the Senate.”
