“Close to Treason”
It Is Close to Stupid but Not Treason.

Macbeth’s hour was coming nigh, and he responded with this observation of his life.

Life’s but a walking shadow, a poor player
That struts and frets his hour upon the stage
And then is heard no more. It is a tale
Told by an idiot, full of sound and fury,
Signifying nothing.

Then Macbeth remembered what the witches told him, which radically worsened his fears.

“Fear not, till Birnam wood
Do come to Dunsinane”; and now a wood
Comes toward Dunsinane.—Arm, arm, and out!—

This oak tree was there when Birnam Wood came to Dunsinane.

The end is near for Macbeth; his house or rather his castle is about to fall in upon him. Donald the Dumb should have read Macbeth a handful of decades ago. It would explain Donald the Dumb’s dilemma. Having not done so, I have a suggestion for our fake president. He could quit tweeting for a couple hours and read Shakespeare’s play, Macbeth.

Donald the Dumb “struts and frets his hour upon the stage” due to a long list of concerns. The first one was his strutting about the massive crowd size at his inauguration. It was larger than any previous inauguration including that of Obama’s. As Macbeth stated,

It is a tale
Told by an idiot, full of sound and fury,
Signifying nothing.

Comparison: Donald Trump and Barack Obama's inauguration crowds

However, some in Washington emulate him, their mentor. For example, Homeland Security Secretary John Kelly did his strutting on stage when he said, “I believe when you leak the kind of information that seems to be routinely leaked - high, high level of classification… I think it’s darn close to treason.”

Would you buy a used car from this guy?

Kelly was upset with The New York Times, which released some photos of the bombing at the Ariana Grande concert in Manchester. While I didn’t see the photos that rattled Kelly, I think that is a bit of a stretch about treason. Photos supposedly leaked after the bomb blast would show what? If you wanted to determine who built the bomb, a general photo of the area won’t reveal anything. However, Kelly is protecting us while concluding, “…it’s darn close to treason.”

However, Kelly goes beyond that issue. He morphs the leak of some photos from the Ariana Grande concert with other leaks coming out of Washington. Donald the Dumb’s administration leaks like a sieve. There are nearly as many leaks as tweets from him.

Nonetheless, Kelly rushes to defend Donald the Dumb. Kelly’s retort regarding the leak about Jared Kushner’s brilliant notion creating a back channel with Putin. “His number one, number one interest, really, is the nation so you know there’s a lot of different ways to communicate, backchannel, publicly with other countries. I don’t see any big issue here relative to Jared.” Really?

Essentially, Kelly was saying the same thing as Donald the Dumb said about Michael Flynn. Kushner wanted to do this prior to the inauguration; Donald the Dumb wasn’t the president yet. To make matters worse, the leak revealed that Kushner wanted to use the Russian communication system in the Russian Embassy.

Kelly and Donald the Dumb are upset about all the leaking of material. Much of the leaked material isn’t criminal. Whoever did leak the backchannel issue and hundreds of other leaks did so to let the public know about our fake president’s activities.

For Kelly and Donald the Dumb, it is treasonous to leak stories that reveal possible legal issues, income tax material, collusion, the relationship that he has with Putin and Russian.

To be blatantly honest, what is treasonous about any of the leaks? Even if all the leaks were of the statue of the Pentagon Papers, in both cases, the virtue was in the leaking not in covering up lies and misdeeds. Think about it. The administration covers up questionable activities, and the person that leaks the lies is committing treason. I’ve taught ethics for years, and Kelly and Donald the Dumb are wrong. Having said that, at least Kelly doesn’t tweet a half dozen times a day.
